Renewables

It is the business policy to consider the most energy efficient options and ways of carrying out production activities. Machinery and equipment are maintained and serviced routinely to ensure efficiency. Energy usage and output is also monitored to ensure machinery and equipment are operating at maximum efficiency levels.
Energy assessments and audits are carried out as appropriate and for high energy usage activities e.g coldstorage and drying equipment, usage is closely monitored.

For these reasons, Norton Farm has invested in renewable energy.

Wind

At Norton Farm there is a 20KW C&F wind turbine. This is used to power the coldstores at Norton and any excess energy that is not needed is returned to the National Grid.

Solar

30KW panels have been installed on top of a south facing machinery shed at Norton. This has increased our daytime ability to produce and use renewable energy.
